Ashlin, Fran and Melinda are the organisers of Lovecraft, and have been putting on fairs in Christchurch since 2006. Lovecraft is not for profit, the stall fee covers costs relating only to putting on the events themselves.
Lovecraft is an event which celebrates local handmade craft makers, designers, artists and independent music. The primary purpose of Lovecraft is to expose emerging craftistas, and to put them in touch with others of a similar mindset. At the same time, Lovecraft allows these groups to get together and show off their handmade and homemade wares to the wider community. There are a growing number of people across all age groups taking up crafts, and using them to their own ends-usually in very non traditional ways, and Lovecraft embraces their ideas.
Due to the nature of the event, Lovecraft happens bi-annually around the central city of Christchurch.
In the past we've held events at Linwood Community Arts Centre, SOL Square, Ya-Ya Teahouse and lately, High Street Project. The first two events went under the name Craftwerk Christchurch. 2008 saw the team re-brand the event Lovecraft.
